2008 Dream Home Opens Nov. 20
Chapel Cove is the site of Charlotte magazine’s 2008 Dream Home! The magazine engaged E.S. Johnson Builders, LLC, a member of the community’s Builder Guild, to build this year’s tour home.
Eric Johnson, president of E.S. Johnson Builders, LLC, says his favorite areas inside the home are the kitchen and owners’ bath. "The kitchen displays exposed wood beams, and is designed with a classic, Old English style in mind. The owners’ bath is influenced by European spas, but I've added a different touch to it. I opted to use light colors instead of darker hues to create a more relaxed look." Click here to see this home's floor plan.
Designed for an Active Family
Vicki Payne and Sloan Payne-Rutter, hosts of the popular PBS do-it-yourself show For Your Home, are decorating the Dream Home in a "Creativity and Activity" theme. "We didn’t want to go with your typical magazine look," Payne says. "We wanted this home to look like a family lives there. That’s how we pulled the Creativity and Activity theme through the home. It’s designed to showcase your family’s interests."

Dream Home Benefits Community
Proceeds from the tour will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Charlotte Affiliate, part of the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
Johnson says, "We chose Susan G. Komen for the Cure because many people who work with our company have relatives who’ve had breast cancer. So, this house has truly been a mission to raise as much money as possible." |
